Going barefoot – how to get strong at it!

Hey Wild Ones… How is it with you? Walking barefoot? Summer Solstice is just over, the days are longest now, and we have at least three more months of summery weather. If we’re lucky, even more. Now going out barefoot is most fun. Because of the warm season, our bodies are more relaxed, learn easily and we are more unlikely to get injured.

I’ve been out barefoot for months now. I love this feeling of mobility and freedom! Going barefoot brings loads of benefits for our body and wellbeing. Lots of tiny little supporting muscles become activated, making especially our back strong, while our body re-aligns it’s self with every step. Our brain is more alert, sending constantly new signals down or spine, so that our whole moving system reacts in the best way. acupressure points in our feet are constantly triggered, affecting our inner organs in a good way and activating our self-healing. And last but not least, We get rid of a lot of tension through direct contact with the earth, becoming more calm and grounded.

On the other hand, if you’re just beginning to walk around barefoot, and are really used to wearing shoes that support and cushion your feet, with the typical drop from heel to toe, you might find slight insecurity in beginning a barefoot journey. Going barefoot, you use your body in a different way. No more falling into the next step and hitting with your heel, just without the cushioning.
