Run in the sun and then a wild salad

Run in the sun and then a wild salad

I made this video a few days ago, but didn’t get round to cutting and posting it. I’d just come back from a great sun-run… just about 13km at good speed and with lot’s of energy. Really it was almost too hot to run, but I wanted to do it and was in good form… everything went fine. In spite of the heat I ran at a speed of about 5.30mins per km.

The day before I had already started out on this run once, but didn’t manage very well at all. I’d done a 100 push-up/ 100 squat workout just beforehand and didn’t eat in between. Getting late by the time I started out, the sun was too hot and I started too fast, as a result I lost my power after about 6km and had a very strenuous scuffle back home. And that I did not enjoy either. As if I hadn’t made that mistake before. Learning by feeling …. hope I have my lesson learned now!

Anyway, the day after everything was perfect. I had a great enthusiastic run. And when I got back home, I went straight into our little back garden, which is pretty wild and full of wild herbs, some for us to enjoy in salads and some to attract bees, butterflies and other insects. So first thing I did was pick myself a delicious wild salad, as I do regularly this year. I love these salads, they’re so full of life and energy, and they grow right there in my back yard!

This time I had French spinach, dandy-lion, fennel, mint, sage, thyme, elder-flowers, garlic mustard and Indian cress. I just added a pinch of salt, some Balsamico and some olive oil. Wow!
