forest spring-water
What a lovely thing is forest spring-water. I was helping paint a small house right next to a lovely bit of woodland and decided to leave the painting for an hour and get out into the woods. I’ve been in the area a few times and know a great walk or run through the forest, passing three natural springs along the path.
I love this path because of the possibility to meet these springs and touch and drink water that is just now gushing out of the forest ground. To me these places are something very special and sacred and should be treated with great respect. With all the industrial misuse of water we are lucky that there are natural sites like these where we can just kneel down and cup our hands to fill them with this beautiful being, water; cleansed by the earth it’s self, by the layers of sand and sediment, mineralized by the rocks it passes, ready to do it’ healing work in the temples of those who drink it.
I believe it is very important in which attitude we approach any natural being or place; in nature we meet our roots, we meet our origin, and fellow beings that have always done what they’ve done. A rock will always let us sit, a spring will always let us drink, the sky will always let us gaze; when we meet them with respect and ask we will arrive at home and become rooted.
I feel we should not forget that we are never doing the earth a favour when we meet other beings with respect. We are doing us a favour. When we sit down in nature and get rooted, or we get out in the sticks and have a wild work-out, we are meeting nature and our roots and for this we should be grateful. We should also feel strong and proud to be a part of all this.
We don’t do this for the earth. It is not the earth we are protecting, no matter what we stand up for. When we are all gone because mankind can no longer live on this planet or maybe decides to leave this planet, our grandmother earth will live on; no matter what state we leave this planet in, life will strive to live and change will bring change. We will be gone. We need this planet. We need these elemental beings that keep us alive. That is the essential reason why we have this urge to protect. We should look after this place and re-connect with it because this means re-connecting with the potential of our lives. We are a part of this all, not the other way round; so let’s enjoy it and respect it.
