Learning balance – part 1
Enjoy my new video. These scenes of me practising my balance were made a few months ago. Walking the bear-walk along the limbs of a tree is a great way to practise balance and become earthed at the same time.
It had rained in the night before, so the tree’s branches were still wet and rather slippery. As soon as my walk became slightly steeper, I really had to move carefully, sometimes letting myself down onto my knees.
Learning to sit and squat on the floor and learning to leave this position to crawl are some of the most basic exercises to generate a strong way of using your body. So this is where we should start. First we learn to sit and squat, and how to get into and leave these positions, Then we learn to crawl, then to crouch. When we’ve done all that, our walking and running will be really strong; yes any functional movement will become strong.
