Working-out should be fun!

Training is supposed to be fun. If you move long enough your body will start producing hormones like endorphine and serotonin that give you a sensation of happiness and content; done regularly excercise will make your energy level rise and you will feel more agile in everyday life.

If you seriously want to make a change of course your training, whatever it might be, should be disciplined and make you pant at least; If you want to move on and grow stronger, faster, whatever, you will have to move out of your comfort-zone and the realms of the easily achievable and known to push yourself into the world beyond. This will bring you the great benefit of not only sustaining your momentary state of health but becoming fitter and stronger. Also though you should be careful to do yourself good and make sure you enjoy what you’re doing.

What you don’t want to do is to get into a training-rut. If you go for a great jog, say for 7 kilometers, three times a week, mondays, wednesdays and saturdays, you keep to the same track every time… What do you think is going to happen?? Well you are not going to get better and better on the long run; your body will get used to it and stop building up muscle and strength, your mind will start to count the stones on the way to your goal, you will become bored and most likely you will have really frustrating phases in which you will wonder why you seem to lose your capability to run these 7 km in your normal time.

That’s what happens when you get caught in routine, you miss out on the anything beyond what you are used to and at the same time you become more and more unhappy at that. So you should seek to keep your training playful and interesting.

Your training should always be challenging an fun at the same time. It is important to create this balance. If you can’t enjoy your training you are not going to be doing it for long. The video in this post might give you an idea how really playful training can be really good training that makes you happy. When I train like this I am very close to ideas I had in childhood. I don’t care what people think when they see me do it, I’m keeping flexible and fit. You don’t have do do the same as I show in my vid, I just want to give you an idea of how you can make training real fun. You can find your own way of training playfully and binging spontaneous changes into your routine. Maybe you have a friend who you could imagine creating training-sessions with you. This would be even more fun and perhaps you’d find it easier to become playful. I love this kind of work-out. I meet myself and the elements in a great way. The good thing is that it doesn’t matter if you can run 20 miles and do 100 push-ups or if you can walk a mile and sit down and stand up ten times; you can be creative and playful about how you set your challenges. What is very helpful indeed is to make sure that you train differently again and again and that you never stop trying new things out.

whatever you are doing make sure you keep well hydrated by drinking lot’s and lot’s of water, an hour before work-out and very important, straight after work-out. After work-out get yourself a bite to eat aswell! Please always remember that.
